Waltz with Bashir

Just finished watching Waltz with Bashir. Emotional, original and very beautiful. Not for the faint of heart.

I hope that it will get the well-deserved Oscar in the best foreign movie category.

Knockin' On The Heavens Door

If I'm asked about my favourite movie, my current answer would be "Knocking' On The Heaven's Door". Great script with excellent combination of drama, humour and action. Plus a soundtrack which perfectly fits the picture. 10/10.

The Day After Tomorrow

— Posted by hazard @ 05-10-24 01:52
Today Nova was broadcasting "The Day After Tomorrow". Though I watched it on TV, I must say that it looked quite good, considering that I saw it in cinema as well. My rating didn't change much with the second viewing.

Most people criticize this movie for being too cliched and illogical; it is indeed full of stereotypes and illogical things on a small scale. On a big scale, it makes sense - basics of human relationship, humanity experiencing a catastrophe due to exploitation of Earth's resources.

The Gulf stream shutting off due to "contamination" by melted freshwater is scientifically sound. It won't happen so fast, and it would mainly affect Iceland, Ireland and UK, but these are small details. ;)

8.5/10. I enjoyed watching it for the second time, and this doesn't happen with many movies.

Star Wars III

Since both Leonid and Lev blogged about Star Wars III:

I figured out why it is boring. It is because all humans behave unhuman-like. Too perfect. No emotions. Hell, droids look more human than humans in this movie...

KSP-2005

I released my longest video yet - collection of clips from Russian Cyprus amateur song festival KSP-2005. Approx 1h30m running time. While working on it, I realized that I need to upgade my RAM, my CPU and my monitor. :-)

Triplettes de Belleville

If you're bored with movies which all look too similar, then watch Triplettes de Belleville. The most original movie I've seen in a couple of years...

"The Shape of Things"

— Posted by hazard @ 05-01-16 16:12
"The Shape of Things" is yet another example that Europeans can approach the same old story and still manage to squeeze out a fresh plot, with good acting delivered by Reichel Weisz and Paul Rudd.

7/10.

Movie: The Sweetest Thing

"The Sweetest Thing" is a nice and light 18+ comedy with Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate. For some reason underrated on IMDB.

7/10.
